⚠️ N55 ROAD DIVERSION (to September 4th) – ACCESS TO THE CAMPSITE IS OPEN
Lough Ree (East) Caravan & Camping and Ballykeeran remain fully accessible via the N55 coming from Athlone, Galway, Dublin or the South - you do NOT need to follow the official diversion to reach us.
As you approach Ballykeeran on the N55, you will reach the diversion point and see an “Access Only” sign.
➡️ Continue straight ahead through the “Access Only” section – DO NOT take the diversion.
Lough Ree (East) Caravan & Camping is only approximately 300 metres beyond the diversion point, so you can access the campsite as normal.
Coming from Cavan/the North via Ballymahon - you WILL be impacted:
If you are travelling during the restricted weekday hours, the signed detour route will divert you away from Glasson:
Upon reaching Ballymahon, you will be diverted onto the regional road R392 towards Skeagh Beg Cross. You will then turn right onto the R389 heading toward Loughnavalley.
From Loughnavalley, you will turn right onto the R390, which will bring you directly down into Athlone and the N55. Turn right at the N55, past the ‘Access Only’ sign, into Ballykeeran.
